I am always on the hunt for great new cookbooks! I especially enjoy reading about baking. I was sent Dessert for Two by Christina Lane from Nielsen Massey Fine Vanillas & Flavors. This cookbook is all about desserts and baking for two people. Sometimes its nice to bake for just a few people. With bathing suit season just around the corner I don’t like to leave too much baked goods around, but I do enjoy a treat every once in awhile.
Dessert for Two: Small Batch Cookies, Brownies,Pie and Cakes is a cookbook with scaled down recipes written by fellow blogger Christina Lane. She has taken classic recipes from Bakery-Style Chocolate Chip Cookies and Red Velvet Cupcakes to new inspirations on old favorites, such as Buttered Grits Cookies with Lime Glaze. Each recipe is called down to serve just two people.
In her book, Dessert for Two Lane encourages buying high-quality ingredients, such as Nielsen-Massey Vanillas. I have to agree with Christina. I love Nielsen Massey Vanilla. I know that I can trust the sweet creamy vanilla flavor in all of my favorite recipes.
I am so excited to try many of these recipes in this new cookbook. The first one up is Chocolate Caramel Mason Jar Lid Tarts because the idea of baking in the lids of mason jars is ingenious! What a perfect portion size and a great serving dish for a party! SO cute.
