I am always looking for a way to reuse items that I have around the house. My step son is graduating from Pre-K in a few weeks and he loves cake! I thought it would be really cute to make him his own individual mini cake. I used cans ( the kind that corn, string beans come in) to bake these mini cakes.
I used prepackaged cake mix for these but you can just as easily make your cake batter from scratch if you prefer.
4 small cans (washed, with both the top and the bottom cut out and labels off)
1- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
2- Prepare cake mix according to directions.
3- Wrap the bottom of each can with aluminum foil.
4- Spray the inside of each can with the cooking spray.
5- Fill each can about half way with cake batter.
6- Bake for approximately 25 minutes.
7- Let cool. run a knife around the inside of each can and pop out cake.
8- Decorate with icing and sprinkles.
