This year Lent has already started and for our family, and that means meatless Fridays. We have always followed along with this tradition for as long as I can remember. When I was a little girl my Mom would always make fish sticks on Fridays during Lent, occasionally we would do pizza instead, but fish sticks were the staple in our home.
My family also continues the tradition of fish on Fridays, but we spiced it up with these Walking Fish Stick Tacos. We are on the move these days between horse lessons and work obligations so sometimes we have to take a meal to go and these tacos with a broccoli slaw are just the ticket.
Simply wrap the taco in a piece of parchment or waxed paper and you are good to go!
No matter if you are eating these tacos at home or on-the-go, they are a great variation to your meals during Lent.
We use Mrs. Paul’s Crunchy Breaded Fish Sticksbecause we love that these fish sticks aremade with 100% Wild-Caught Fish. This mouthwatering, sustainably wild-caught pollock is surrounded by a golden breading made from crunchy breadcrumbs that are the perfect combination of flavor and crispiness. Delicious and crispy goodness!
Ingredients Needed for Walking Fish Stick Tacos for Lent
No meal is complete without vegetables and this Mom knows that kids will eat anything inside a taco shell! We made this spicy slaw with Birds Eye Steamfresh Broccoli Cuts. Specially selected frozen broccoli is cut into convenient pieces and flash-frozen to lock in the fresh flavor. Made with no artificial flavors, colors or preservatives this steamable broccoli lets you enjoy high-quality vegetables from the freezer. We mixed the broccoli with a prepackaged cabbage slaw blend for the perfect addition to our tacos.
A combination of Hunt’s Classic Tomato Ketchupand mayonnaise with a few spices is all you need to make this coleslaw flavorful and delicious. Hunt’s Classic Tomato Ketchup is a great complement to our family’s favorite foods. With no preservatives and quality ingredients, this classic ketchup is delicious to dip or top burgers, nuggets, tots, fries, and more. Hunt’s Classic Tomato Ketchup starts with vine-ripened tomatoes, choice seasonings, and spices for a flavorful, thick sauce because great-tasting meals deserve great condiments.
