There is nothing worse than planning for a holiday meal or baking all day then to realize that you still have to make dinner that night! Now I know this may seem simple and it is. I write down in our planner the days that we are having dinner as a family. I would love to have this happen every day but realistically that is just not possible. We aim for 3-4 days per week that we have dinner together as a family, no electronics that we can relax, talk and catch-up.

 

Everyone Helps

From setting the table to cleaning up everyone helps to make this family meal a priority. The older children help with pouring beverages while the little one sets the table, if everyone pitches in just a little, the whole task goes a lot easier.

We love reconnecting as a family and checking in with school, grades, activities and more. I like to think that when we stop and eat together, the children share more information than our usual conversations.
