Baked Chocolate Cake Donuts with Sugar Glaze

I had to buy a donut pan. I mean I really had to- have you seen the photos of all of these donuts that are popping up all over the internet? I have and I needed to make some of my own. I am so glad that I did because now I can make all kinds of varieties of donuts.

For my first attempt I made a chocolate cake donut with a sugar glaze. These donuts were so easy to make and they came out delicious. Cake-like with a sweet glaze and a better option than the deep fried donuts you get at the store.

Bake Chocolate Donuts with a Sugar Glaze

Ingredients

1 cup flour
1/4 cup sugar
¼ cup cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
1 cup plain yogurt
1 egg
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Glaze-
½ cup confectioner’s sugar

3-4 Tbsp milk

Directions

Preheat the oven to 425.

Spray a donut pan with non-stick spray.

Mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cocoa powder and salt in a medium sized bowl.

Add the yogurt, egg, butter, and vanilla and mix until well blended.

Spoon into donut pan and fill wells until 2/3 full.

Bake for 7-9 minutes.

Allow to cool for 4-5 minutes before removing from pan.

Make the glaze by combining ingredients together.

Dip the tops of the donuts into the glaze.

Give these chocolate donuts a try and enjoy them. My husband is a huge fan- I think I am going to try a pumpkin spice donut next.
