DIY Vegetable Garden in Raised Beds.

How to Make Your Own Vegetable Garden

Let me tell you about my saga with our vegetable garden. This garden brings me much joy but it seems every year that there are issues with the garden. One year it was woodchucks, another deer, another the weeds took over, the tomato plant blyte, you name it, my poor garden has endured it.
This year was going to be different. I decided I wanted to put in raised beds, to cut down on the weeding problems. We re-did the fencing around our garden plot to help deter the animals. This is how we created our new vegetable garden.
Step 1 – Re-enforce the fencing and structure and level the dirt.
Step 2- Design A plan.
Step 3 – Lay down cardboard.
Step 4 – Lay down a layer of weed blocker.
Step 5 – Draw out in chalk where you would like the beds to go.
Step 6 – Gather rocks and pile where your plan calls for a raised bed.
Step 7 – Fill the beds with soil.
Step 8 – Plant the vegetables

Step 9 – Cover with a layer of newspaper and mulch.

So this project was an all-day event. I am hoping that this will cut back on some work in the years to come. I am very happy with the way that it looks. SO far it has been very easy to maintain and have had no weeds yet to pull. SO keep your fingers crossed that the animals leave my garden alone!
