Easy Cookie Swap Ideas and Recipe

I received product to facilitate this post from Oriental Trading. All opinions are my own and yours may vary.

It’s here! The countdown to Christmas has begun and for me that means decorating the house, wrapping gifts and baking cookies. Hosting a cookie swap doesn’t have to be a hard event to plan and can be so much fun to host.

Key to Hosting a Cookie Swap

When deciding to host a cookie swap be clear on your expectations for your guests. From how many cookies of one recipe that they need to bring. A good rule of thumb is 1 dozen cookies per guest. For example if you have 6 people coming to your part, you should have 72 cookies of the same recipe packaged in a dozen per container.

If you like to give cookies as gifts, a cookie swap is a great idea because you just have to make one variety of cookie and in return you will have a large variety to gift or serve through out the holiday season.

Shown here in the photos are my chocolate crinkle cookies recipe– they are SO GOOD- they go quick so you may want to make two batches!

Here are a few of my cookie recipes to share for the holidays- brown butter sugar cookie, Chocolate mint, cake batter, butter spritz, and linzer tart bars.

I love to have my home decorated for the holidays with a theme when we are hosting the cookie swap party. This year I loved the buffalo plaid products that Oriental Trading had. These pillows look so cute on a leather couch or chair. Pair with a soft and cozy throw and you have the perfect place to snuggle in and read a book or just relax. I love the rustic look of antlers with pinecones and other natural elements. This is a great table accent with the antlers in the cloche. You can easily update your home for each season by changing what you are showcasing in the cloche.

This gives off the perfect rustic chic look- simply add a few strands of garland or poinsettias and you are all set. I always love to give a goodie bag when my guests are leaving and I think these buffalo plaid bags filled with peppermints and tied with and ornament or a gift tag is the perfect way to give your cookie swap guests a little something to go home with.

Hosting a cookie swap does not have to be overwhelming it can actually take a bit of stress off your shoulders during the holiday season if planned correctly. Plus it gives you a reason to have a party! What could possibly be better than that?
