Keep Children’s Sensitive Skin Healthy this Spring with Dreft

This post and giveaway were made possible by iConnect and Dreft. I was compensated for my participation in this campaign, but all opinions are 100% mine.

As most of you know, my daughter has extremely sensitive skin. The littlest things can cause her to have itchy outbreaks or skin irritation. It seems to be most apparent at this time of year when the seasons are changing, so I try to seek out products that are gentle on my little one’s sensitive skin. I have recently learned that Dreft laundry detergent will help me with this issue.

Dreft is a hypoallergenic laundry detergent that has been pediatricians number 1 choice for the past 80 years. Who can argue with that? Plus it has a mild baby scent that brings back memories of when our children were just born.

Dreft has recently partnered with Dr. Dyan Hes, the Medical Director of Gramercy Pediatrics. Dr. Hes is double boarded in both pediatrics and obesity medicinen and has wonderful tips to protect your children’s skin during the Spring allergy season. Two of her tips that I found that resonated with my family are:

  1. Shade the sun: The long awaited spring season means increased outdoor time for parents and their babies. When heading outside, don’t forget to practice appropriate baby skin safety. My daughter at age 4 knows that before she goes outside that she needs to have sunscreen and a hat on at all times. This was definitely a habit that was formed after many year. And while it was not always easy to have her keep a hat on at first the constant repetition of putting the hat back on has made her aware of what she needs to do when she goes outside and the sun is out at age 4.

  1. Make bath-time beneficial: Prolonged time spent in bathwater can actually rob skin of natural moisture. About 10 minutes is plenty of time for water play and a quick scrub. I found that this is especially true for my daughter. She would get extra itchy if she took long tubs. Since decreases her time spent in the water and patting her delicate skin dry has definitely helped her sensitive skin.
