Hearty Beef Stew with Pantry Staples

There is something so comforting eating a hearty bowl of beef stew. I love to place all of the items in the slow cooker at night before we go to sleep and let it cook on low until we want to eat it the following day.

How to Make Beef Stew

Rich and hearty with only a few ingredients, the flavors combine to make a delicious stew. Honestly the longer this cooks the better the stew is and be sure to make enough for leftovers, because the flavors get better when it sits overnight in the fridge!

Hearty Beef Stew with Pantry Staples

Ingredients

1-1/2 pounds cubed steak

4 carrots peeled and cut into large pieces

4 potatoes, peeled and cut into large pieces

4 cups beef broth

¼ cup tomato paste

2 TBSP soy sauce

Salt and pepper to taste

Slurry-

2 Tbsp flour

½ cup warm water

Directions

Place all of the ingredients in a crockpot.

Set to low and let cook for 6-8 hours.

Mix the slurry together until smooth.

Add the slurry to stew.

Cook on low for an additional hour.

We love to make this beef stew recipe during the cold winter months but it can be made for a yummy Sunday dinner as well. On a cool day, there is nothing better than a warm stew or soup to keep you warm and toasty.

Easily substitute other vegetables that you have on hand as well- for example, turnips or parsnips would make a great addition/substitution as well. We have even made this with canned potatoes in a pinch!
