How to Make Everything Bagel Seasoning

I love an everything bagel, well the seasoning – not so much the bagel. I have created a copycat version of Trader Joes “Everything But The Bagel” seasoning. There are so many uses for this spice blend of poppy seeds, sesame seeds, garlic, salt and pepper.

Copycat Everything but the Bagel Seasoning

This mix of spices is the perfect addition to so many different dishes and side dishes plus it is so easy to mix up. So if you do not live near a Trader Joes ( like me) this is a great version of Everything but the Bagel seasoning.

Everything Bagel Spice Blend

Ingredients

1 TBSP poppy seeds

1 TBSP sesame seeds

1 TBSP minced garlic (dried)

1 tsp cracked black pepper

1 tsp crushed sea salt

1 tsp onion salt

Directions

Place all ingredients in a bowl and mix to combine.

Will keep in a sealed jar for up to 6 weeks. (if it lasts that long!!)

So what are some uses for this yummy spice blend? Here are a few ideas for you to try. Sprinkle on scrambled eggs or popcorn for a new variation on a classic meal or snack. Works well as a hummus topping or baked into croutons for a delicious new salad topper.

When I was younger we used to walk into town on a Saturday morning and get an everything bagel (scooped out – a Long Island thing!) with cream cheese and sliced tomatoes. I loved to shake the bagel to get off the extra seasoning and I would dip the cream cheese into the spice blend for even more goodness. Now I know I wasn’t the only one to do this when I was younger!

We started keeping a small jar of this Everything But The Bagel spice blend on the counter next to our salt and pepper shakers. I love how the blend adds just a little bit of crunch to snacks, meals and more. Give this a try – I promise it is delicious!

Happy Baking!
