Well the folks at Skylanders have done it again. They have created Skylanders Imaginators. I am not sure about you but in our home Skylanders has been a huge part of our lives for numerous years. We have had regular characters, Giants and mix and match characters. There have been numerous posters hanging on our walls crossed off with the characters that we had as well as the ones that were wanted. Super cute Skylanders storage kits and every possible accessory you can imagine.
It now has continued with Skylanders Imaginators and I absolutely love the creativity that this game has sparked with my boys. Unlike the other games this one allows you to create your own Skylanders. You have the ability to create these Skylanders by collecting “imaginite” crystals hidden throughout the game or by completing missions. The boys really enjoyed exploring the game to see what was available in the many levels. These crystals have different body parts, weapons or gear inside them.
So the more crystals you collect, the greater amount of things you will have to choose from to create better Sklyanders. The main purpose of this game is to stop Kaos from taking over Skylands with his mind magic. You as the gamer do this by defeating all of his minions in each level.
The lids loved that throughout the game there are multiple things to collect. Kind of like a scavenger hunt. One type of object to collect are soul gems, which unlock a special attack depending on the soul gem you find. Another is Sensei Shrines which unlock a sky-chi ability for what class of sensei the shrine is for. For example, a Brawler Shrine will unlock a Master King Pen or any other sensei of the brawler class. The third thing you can search for are treasure chests and experience orbs. These objects will give you extra gold and experience points so you can upgrade your Skylanders. Along with a few other items, there are multitudes of items to collect.
My boys had a wonderful time playing with their Skylanders Imaginators on our PS4 console and I felt that they were highly engaged the whole time they were playing. Not only were they playing a game but they were using their imaginations and creating new characters and they can not wait ti get to the store to purchase more! This game is a must have for every Skylanders fan! We love that the game features Sensei toys and characters including this year’s guest stars Crash Bandicoot, Dr. Neo Cortex and Kaos.
The companion app, Skylanders Creator, lets you bring your creations to life as a t-shirt, 2-D playable card, or a fully playable 3-D printed toy! Developed by Toys For Bob, Skylanders Imaginators supports all 300+ Skylanders from previous games. Awesome.
