I was recently invited to see STOMP at New York’s Orpheum Theatre, 126 Second Avenue at 8th Street in the East Village and we loved it! I received 4 tickets to view the show and I wanted my 4-year-old daughter to see be a part of this remarkable experience.
I saw STOMP many years ago and I knew that my daughter would love it because of all the beats, sounds and music that the performers showcase. It really as an amazing show and she was mesmerized by everything. I think she loved the basketball piece the best. We took our best friends with us that day and they were equally as entertained as we were. There are clear signs that no children under the age of four are permitted in the theatre as a FYI. I can totally understand why as some parts of the beautiful music are loud and could go very easily scare young audience members.

“Synchronized stiff-bristle brooms become a sweeping orchestra, eight Zippo lighters flip open and closed to create a fiery fugue; wooden poles thump and clack in a rhythmic explosion. STOMP uses everything but conventional percussion instruments – dustbins, tea chests, radiator hoses, boots, hub caps – to fill the stage with a compelling and unique act that is often imitated but never duplicated.”
My favorite part was the Zippo lighters- it was like we were watching and hearing a video game. Whoever thought of that was a genius! The actors are really funny even though not a word is spoken. Using their facial expressions and body is another way they connected with the audience.
