We love making cookies all the time and for any occasion. This dough is perfect for cookie cutters as well, because the cookies retain their shape.

Christmas Cookie Dunkers

 

Ingredients

1 cup sugar

2 sticks unsalted butter, room temperature

1 egg

2 tsp vanilla extract

1 tsp almond extract

1 tsp salt

1 tsp baking powder

3 cups flour

 

**ready to use royal icing and sprinkles to decorate

Instructions

 

Preheat oven to 350 and line 3 baking sheets with silicon mats, set aside.

In an electric mixer with the paddle attachment, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes. Make sure to scrape down the sides of the bowl.

Add in the egg and extracts and combine.

Mix in the salt, baking powder and half the flour.

Add the remaining flour and combine.

Divide the dough in half and using a rolling pin, roll out dough to ¼ inch thick and using the pizza cutter, cut dough into rectangles approx.. 1-1/2” x 4”.

Bake for 10-15 minutes and cool completely.

Drizzle the icing on the cookies and top with sprinkles.
