How to Make Chili Without Tomato Sauce

The acid in tomato sauce in chili makes my tummy hurt. I needed to create a chili recipe without tomato sauce to enjoy while watching the football games this fall.

How to Make Chili Without Tomato Sauce

We love all different types of chili in our home. We typically make a non tomato sauce version of chili that is tasty and delicious. I use a can of RO*TEL in my chili for a hint of spice and having the small pieces of tomatoes gives this chili the feel of chili without the heavy tomato sauce base.

Chili Without Tomato Sauce Base

Ingredients

3 pounds ground turkey

1 onion, chopped

2 green peppers, chopped

2 cans cannelloni beans, drained

2 cans pinto beans, drained

1 20 oz can RO*TEL with chilis

10 pickled jalapenos

1 TBSP adobe seasoning

salt and pepper to taste

Directions

In a medium pot brown the turkey.

Remove the turkey and add the onions and peppers to the same pot until soft.

Add the beans, RO*TEL, jalapenos and meat back to the pot and simmer. (the moisture from the RO*TEL is your broth base) Season.

Simmer for 20 minutes.

This is one of my favorite recipes to keep in the refrigerator to heat up for lunch throughout the week. A healthy non tomato sauce based chili recipe. I use the term chili loosely as there is no chili seasoning but it still has the feel of chili with the beans and meat.

Having a hearty soup as an option for lunch is one of my favorite ways to have a meal during the crisp fall months.

Here are some of my other favorite soup recipes:

Split Pea Soup with Ham

Reuben Cabbage Soup
