I am a girly- girl. Ask my husband, he will attest to it! For many years I did not worry about my car unless one of the little lights came on the dashboard! Really- it’s true. Then one day my windshield wiper fluid did not work and I had no idea what to do. Well I knew that I needed to purchase washer fluid but had no idea where it went. That was the turning point for me. I wanted to know a little bit about my car and how to keep it running smoothly.
I have 3 Car Tips that every girl needs to know and I would love to share them with you today.
Check Your Oil
Yes, you can do this yourself…. You do not need to go to a service station. It’s pretty easy: Open the hood of your car after it has been off for at least 10 minutes. Pull out the OIL DIP STICK. Insert the dip stick back into the pipe. Pull it out once again and look at the residue on the end of the stick. On the end of your stick you will see a gage imprinted on the stick itself. Be sure your oil falls within the specified range. Put the dipstick back and you are done. Easy peezy.
Should you need oil- you can order Pennzoil motor oil online at Walmart.com. So simple. Log into you web browser and shop from the comfort of your home. No lines, easy and convenient and you can even have it delivered to your home or pick it up from your nearest Walmart.
I use Platinum Synthetic Motor Oil, it offers the best cleanliness and protection in the Pennzoil line-up. With PurePlus™ Technology, the Platinum® motor oil is proven to keep pistons up to 40% cleaner than the toughest industry standard. PurePlus™ Technology is a revolutionary process that converts natural gas into a 99.5% pure base oil.
How to Add Washer Fluid
So this you may think is easy but I honestly had no idea where it went and it took a full 5 minutes for me to open the hood to find where my washer fluid went. You want to look for the reservoir, under the hood of your car that has a cap with a washer fluid icon on it. When you are adding the washer fluid be careful not to spill. If you have a rear wiper, you may have a second reservoir to fill.
Check the Air Pressure on Your Tires
The first step of this is to locate the proper recommended pressure of the tires for your car or truck. Make sure the car is properly parked. Then unscrew the cap from the air valve on a tire. (see photo) Apply the tire pressure gauge and check the number. If you should need to add air, do so and check again. Replace the cap on your air valve.
