Well it is here- back to school has somehow snuck up on us. And this mom of three school aged children finds this time bittersweet. As a teacher myself, I love having the ability to spend the summer months together but when they go back to school so do I!
The crazy schedule begins and we are all getting into our routines as quickly as possible. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and as a teacher I can see first hand what children do not eat breakfast in the morning.
I have a great recipe for an easy breakfast that can be prepared the night before and just popped into the oven before you get in the shower this morning and because it uses NESTLÉ® NESQUIK® Powder in the recipe – I know my kids will love it!
As a standard in our home our children drink NESQUIK® all day. Whether it is the NESTLÉ® NESQUIK® Powder Chocolate flavor (my daughters favorite) or the NESTLÉ® NESQUIK® Powder Strawberry flavor (my son’s favorite) you can be sure they have glasses of delicious milk in front of them not only at meals but for snacks too.
As a mom I love that NESQUIK® contains 7 essential vitamins and minerals and has no artificial colors or flavors. For my daughter who is a picky eater this is definitely important for us.
On my last trip to Target we purchased our NESQUIK® used for this recipe and now it is on sale. This Cartwheel offer for Nesquik Powder at 30% off a 10.9 oz small canister of Nesquik Powder and runs 9/11/2016 – 9/24/2016.
Here is the recipe for NESQUIK® French Toast Bake
Ingredients
1 loaf sourdough bread
2 cups milk
½ cup heavy cream
8 eggs
2 Tbsp Vanilla extract
¼ cup NESQUIK®
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350.
Spray a 13 x 9 pan with cooking spray.
Pull bread apart into pieces- you can cut 1-inch squares if you prefer.
Set aside.
In a separate bowl, mix the eggs and sugar together.
Add vanilla.
Add NESQUIK® to the 2 cups of cold milk and mix well.
Add the chocolate mixture to the egg mixture.
Combine.
Add heavy cream to the mixture and mix well.
Pour over bread.
Refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
Cook for 45 minutes for a soft French toast bake.
Top with whip cream if desired.
For a busy weekday breakfast make the French toast the night before and refrigerate until your alarm wakes you up in the morning. Put on the oven to 350 and put the breakfast in the oven. By the time you get out of the shower and get the kids up, it should be just about ready. Serve with fresh fruit and a glass of NESQUIK® and you have a delicious breakfast option. Pick up your NESQUIK® on your next Target run and let me know how your family likes it.
