This post has been partnered with HairLoom and Extensions by Shaina. I received some services. All opinions are my own and yours may vary.
Why Natural Beaded Rows?
As many of you already know, I love my hair stylist and her ability to install Natural Beaded Rows hair extensions. Shaina, the owner of HairLoom located in New York is also a master a color. She has taken my hair from box black hair dye to a cool icy blonde. I could not wait to get the NBR extensions by DKW Styling back and she did not disappoint!
Natural Beaded Rows Hair Extensions Review
Have a look at this video that showcase the entire process!
My hair has always been thin and I love how hair extensions look but I was afraid of the damage and the breakage. The pictures that I see on Instagram of thick and perfectly styled NBR was always a source on inspiration. After I did a lot of research online I was happy to give Natural beaded Rows by DKW Styling a try again!
Not only can NBR make your hair longer if you chose to; but fuller as well. I was looking to add a bit of length and fullness to my chin length blonde hair. The extensions turned out gorgeous.
NBR Salon in New York
Shaina has really exceeded all of my expectations. This time she was going to put in two full rows of extensions. She went to work immediately and expertly sewed in the NBR extensions slipping a bead in between every weft of hair. It did not hurt at all. As she was working she was explaining the method to me and the ins and outs of styling the Natural Beaded Rows hair extensions. They will last about 6 weeks before I will have to go back and have them tightened.
She also went over pricing, dos and dont’s of Natural Beaded Rows BEFORE she touched my hair. The hair extensions were different variations of the blonde hue of my natural hair. Shaina explained that this is how you gain dimension with your extensions. She also put a lot of hair in place so that she can cut into the extensions for a more seamless look. Again I sat back in amazement with her knowledge. She methodically sewed the string into my existing hair constantly asking if it felt good and wasn’t too tight. It felt like a headband… that kind of pressure on your hair.
It really should come as no surprise how expertly she worked because over the past few years I’ve gotten to know her well. She is always flying back and forth for classes, conferences and more and this year she was dubbed NBR Stylist of the Year! Truly a well deserved honor for this young lady.
Each row takes about 45 minutes depending on your hair type. She explained that there are different ways to place the NBR extensions depending on the texture of your hair as well. When she was finished I had a main of gorgeous silver blonde hair. I could not be happier with the results. For the first time in my life my hair feels and looks thick, healthy and pretty.
Have a look at the HairLoom or Extensions by Shaina website for more information and how to apply to see if you are a candidate for them. I am so thankful that I did the research a few years ago that brought me to her. She is an artist; truly talented, professional and can give you the hair that you have always wanted to have. Be sure to tell her that I sent you!
You mentioned her pricing changed. How much was the cost this go around?
Hi Chiara all of her information is on her website – https://www.extensionsbyshaina.com/secret
Thanks for visiting!
Hello! I love this post and your hair looks gorgeous!! I was curious how many rows you have in your hair to get the look you have showing in this blog post? Thank you!
Thank you Lindsey- I have 2 rows.
I am curious about ponytails? What does your hair look like in a ponytail?
You can totally wear a pony tail and a bun as well. You just need to make sure the rows are covered which is completely manageable!
Hi! How often do they have to get readjusted?
How often do they have to get readjusted?
I go every 6-7 weeks but depending on how fast your hair grows!!
They look great but I experienced extreme pain, headaches and an itchy rash on my scalp and all over my body due to an allergic reaction the the beads. I wasn’t able to sleep at night because they were so painful and uncomfortable to sleep on. And for those of you asking about putting it in a high ponytail of bun. It didn’t work. It was a waste of a lot of money because I ended up taking them out in just 5 days. The rash went away right away. I realize this is my experience but I want to share to people are aware that it doesn’t work wonderful for everyone like most reviews say.
Oh No! I am so sorry to hear that. I want to say that my hair stylist uses plastic beads, not sure if that would make a difference or not.
I have been able to wear my hair in a high pony and a bun so I do think that it is about the placement of the hair too.
I have been using NBR hair extensions for almost a year (05/13 will be a year) when I first got mine it cost me $1500 for the hair, installation service (2 rows and a mini row), color, and I bought shampoo and conditioner and oil by Ombre. I have been paying 500-600 for maintenance every 8 weeks. Now my stylist quoted me $2215.00 for my 1 year full application again (hair and installation). I normally would not even dream of spending all this money on hair but my hair was chemically burned off and I was desperate. My hair is important to me as it is to most woman. What is your opinion on these prices. I feel like it is so much and kinda taking advantage of desperate women 😬😥😂
I would try to find another NBR stylist as see what their rates are. Good luck, I love my hair with NBR extensions.
I think it has a lot to do with what city you are in. I live in a smaller city in Ontario, Canada.
I’m paying $200 every 6-8 weeks. I only have 1 row though. I was charged $600 for a half pack of 18″ and the install was $80 each weft.
Completely agree! Thanks for stopping by!
