Christmas Snowball Cookies
These snowball cookies are a classic Christmas cookie. You will find these cookies simple to make, and absolutely delicious. Snowball cookies make a perfect addition to cookie tins and holiday treat platters. These snowball cookies are also called Mexican Wedding Cookies.
We love to make a variety of Christmas Cookies each year and these snowball cookies are a perfect addition to your cookie platters. Add these to your elf cookies, grinch hot cocoa and of course you can’t go wrong with a thumbprint cookie.
Ingredients for Snowball Cookies
- butter
- powdered sugar
- vanilla extract
- flour
- salt
- walnuts
Directions for Snowball Cookies
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
- Mix butter, ½ cup powdered sugar, and vanilla in a large bowl on low speed, until completely blended.
- Mix in salt, then add flour one cup at a time, on low speed.
- Add walnuts and mix for about 2 minutes, until the dough holds together.
- Shape dough into 1 inch balls and place about 1 inch apart on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until cookies are set, but not brown.
- Allow cookies to cool for 3-5 minutes on the pan.
- Roll warm cookies in powdered sugar, then transfer to a wire rack to cool.
- Roll cookies in powdered sugar again.
Can you freeze snowball cookies?
Yes you can freeze snowball cookies prior to rolling in the powdered sugar. Let them come to room temperature before covering in the powdered sugar and serving.
These snowball cookies are a great cookie to mail because they are not an overly delicate cookie so the chances of breaking when shipping (if packaged correctly) are slim.

- ● 2 ¼ cups all purpose flour
- ● ¼ tsp salt
- ● ¾ cup finely chopped walnuts
Instructions
