Elf Christmas Cookies
Such a cute cookie! These sprinkle elf hat cookies are the perfect way to add some color to your Christmas cookies this year. This dough can be tinted whatever color you prefer but we chose red and green.
The triangle shape does not have to be perfect as it will resemble a cute elf hat when finished. These refrigerator cookies take a little bit of time to prepare but they are so cute when finished plus they taste great!
You can freeze the dough for up to one month prior to baking.

Ingredients for Elf Refrigerator Cookies
- flour
- egg
- salt
- butter
- sugar
- vanilla extract
- almond extract
- Red food coloring
- Green food coloring
- nonpareils
- melting chocolate
- white large candy balls for decoration
Equipment Needed for Christmas Cookie Dunkers
- Kitchen mixer
- Cookie sheet
- Rolling pin
Directions
Blend the 2 sticks of butter & sugar with an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs and extracts and combine.
Add in the flour + salt and mix well.
Divide the dough in half.
Add red food coloring to one piece of dough and mix well.
Add green food coloring to the other piece of dough and combine.
Divide the tinted dough into 4 pieces. Working with one piece of the green dough roll into a log and then press the sides to make a triangle form. Set aside.
Roll the red dough out and wrap it over the green dough in one single piece. Cut off excess on ends.
Place the nonpareils into a shallow dish and press the triangle cough into the sprinkles on all three sides.
Wrap with plastic wrap and put in the freezer for 30 minutes. (*** DO NOT skip this step)
Repeat with additional dough.
Preheat oven to 350. Line baking sheets with silicon mats and set aside.
Slice the dough into ¼ inch slices and bake 10-12 minutes
Let cool completely.
Once cool, melt the melting chocolate and adhere one white candy ball to the top of the hat.
What a festive way to start the holidays! These would be cute for a tree cookies as well. Simply make one piece of dough dark green and the inside light green. It will look like a Christmas Tree.
